The present example is blessed with a crisp strike, bright and gorgeous frosty luster, ultra-smooth surfaces, and a lovely, soft golden white patina. Haze and spot free and certainly among the finest Eisenhower dollars in existence.

The popularity of the bicentennial issues combined with the red hot market for high-grade Eisenhower dollars places this piece at the forefront of demand. 1976-D Type I dollars are extremely hard to find nice.  Rarely do they grade as gems; corrosion, discoloration, weak strike, and heavy scraping plague this issue, and MS63 is the norm. Almost never does a brilliant, unmarked 1976-D Type I surface, and only a handful have ever met the requirements of the MS67 grade. There are just 6 at NGC, and 2 at PCGS; far too few to meet the pressing demand. Many believe that the majority of MS67 Eisenhower dollars (of all dates) have already been discovered and that there aren't many more out there.  Heritage Auctions has never offered one for sale, and the PCGS price guide ranks this piece tied with 1978-D as the most expensive MS67 Eisenhower Dollar, at $11,500. A Superb-Gem rarity for the finest collection.
