Gorgeous frosty surfaces are very smooth and clean for the grade, and beautiful bursts of delightful rim color accent otherwise creamy white patina. Exceptionally nice and sure to please. A no-brainer CAC sticker. Nice doubling is visible on IN GOD WE TRUST, the date, and the designers initials, with lesser doubling elsewhere.

This variety is referred to as a Tripled Die Obverse in the Cherrypicker's Guide, but that is misleading. All 1944 obverse dies show a hub-doubled ear, so adding a true Doubled Die to the mix was once considered to make a Tripled Die. However, most sources, including PCGS, have adopted the stance (correct, in our opinion) that FS-101 should be called a DDO, not a TDO.
